Stephen Harrod Buhner is an Earth poet and the award-winning author of fifteen books on nature, indigenous cultures, the environment, and herbal medicine. He comes from a long line of healers including Leroy Burney, Surgeon General of the United States under Eisenhower and Kennedy, and Elizabeth Lusterheide, a midwife and herbalist who worked in rural Indiana in the early nineteenth century. The greatest influence on his work, however, has been his great-grandfather C.G. Harrod who primarily used botanical medicines, also in rural Indiana, when he began his work as a physician in 1911.

Buhner Protocol

There are quite a few herbal protocols individuals are using to aid them in their battle against Lyme Disease.  Since everyone can have different reactions to medications and or herbal remedies it is very important to discuss anything you plan on taking with your physician.  Individualized treatment is very important as is someone to montior your reactions.  This is another reason why many are currently using Biotensors, EAV testing, biofeedback, or some other means of determining whether a product or protocol is right for them before ever ingesting it into their system.  With this said, the Buhner Herbal protocol has been around for some time and there are reports of positive results.

This protocol is being discussed here because it does not appear to be highly complicated and incorporates herbs that have a long history.   This protocol is brought to us by Stephen Harrod Buhner, master herbalist .  The title of the book this protocol originates from is Healing Lyme.   The book also states to please carefully read all dosage outlines, contraindications, and herb/drug interactions under each herb before applying this protocol.  This book may be located at or may be available through your local library.   Also there is a list of recommended herbs to use located at this website:

The core protocol consists of primarily Andrographis, Cat's Claw, Japanese Knotweed.  There are some additional herbs that he recommends adding in later on in your program.  There is a group of individuals at that have tried or are currently using this protocol and the discussion of their experiences is priceless as is having a support group that we all can benefit from.  It is simple to register to join the above group and you may then search for Buhner to find past and current discussions on this topic.
